So, yesterday when I chatted with mother dearest on the phone she informed me that I am not to talk about bowel movements or penises anymore because my relatives who read my blog are too prudish. Sorry guys. But I have a funny story about poop. Today, Marit comes into my room and informs us that her bowels aren't working properly. I said "Oh! You must have what I have!" And she was like "No, I'm sick. It is not supposed to be like this." And I said "Yeah! You are like me now!" And she was like "No Steph, I am sick." And I was like "What? You think that having diarrhea every day is normal for me?" And she said "Oh yeah, I thought you were just like that and that's why you fart so much." No Marit, my digestive system is not functioning properly. Normally I am not this disgusting.
This week the topic is Apologetics. It should be interesting. It is all about learning how to defend your faith when people doubt you and ask questions. Today was basically an overview of the history of the Christian faith. It was just like one of the religion classes that I took in University on Western Religion. But I am super excited to hear what else Flint Hicks will talk about this week. I am hoping for some intense debates on creation vs. evolution and such things. Should be exciting and enlightening.
Doesn't Flint Hicks sound like he should be a hill billy from the USA? Nope! He is from Fiji. Baha. So awesome. But he used to be Muslim, and now has a masters in Christian theology. Neat.
Another exciting moment that happened today was when Johanna walked into the class room carrying a stack of packages. She said "Steph, I have a package for you!" And handed me four packages. Everyone was super jealous again. But they didn't realize that they were all from my Mom. She is the best. She really knows how to make me feel special! She sent me a dress from home, a devotional book, a new journal (actually two because she couldn't decide on one!), lots of candies and more Tim Hortons! Just in time! She also put in some of the tampons that I like from Canada. They don't have them here. The only ones they have are the awkward OB ones that don't have an applicator, and the cardboard ones which suck. Yay mom. That made my day. And she put a 'thinking of you' card in the package. It is the best. I am so happy.
A week or so ago, all of the girls got invitations to a formal dinner on November 7. So I asked mommy to send me a dress. The boys are putting on a fancy dinner for us. I don't know what to expect but I'm super excited! Although I am trying to let go of my disappointment over my invite. Different guys gave invitations to different girls. Some guys got down on one knee with a cute little speech, some wrote songs and such. But not for me. Dave wrote my invitation right in front of me and then awkwardly gave it to me. I felt a little left out. But I will try not to take it personally.
This evening for our small groups my group got to go into Matamata to McDonalds. We got all dressed up fancy too. AND I tried my Visa card... And it worked! I prayed last night and today for it to work or straighten itself out. Yay God. We had a photoshoot in McDonalds, and then at the Skatepark and then at the Hobbiton sign. It was quite the day. Our favorite part was at the skate park. We met a guy named Gary. He was standing on one of the half pipe things and we were posing in front of it. He came over and chatted with us. I think he was like 15 or 16. Kat is madly in love with him though. She keeps bugging me to put the photos up on facebook. Oh man.
