I mentioned this to Dan and he said that it is because we prayed over the base. Yesterday morning for intercession everyone walked around the base and prayed for increased protection. They anointed all of the cottages with oil and prayed for protection from nightmares and for peaceful sleep. I thought it was kind of weird and creepy. But maybe there was something to it. Interesting. We will see how I sleep tonight!
The possessed cows outside our cottage are back though. There was one last night at midnight. It was so loud. I honestly thought it was dying. I have never heart a cow moo so loud and rapidly. I really wanted to know what was happening to it. I heard Kat roll over on the bunk above me, so I whispered "Kat, are you awake?" She said "Yeah" so I whispered "What is wrong with that cow?" and she didn't know. So I got up and put on my handy dandy head lamp (which mommy so kindly mailed to me) and went out onto the deck. The second I turned the lamp on, the mooing stopped. And I couldn't see the cow. So I came back in and whispered that to Kat. And Anne said "You don't have to whisper." Bahaha! So funny. So we had a little laugh, and fell asleep because the cow decided to be quiet for a while. I really want to know why they moan/moo like that.
This morning in lecture we had a little Q & A session. We split into boys and girls and asked questions to the staff about romantic relationships. The girls got to ask Misty (Married with a child), Janessa (Married), Sarah (Previously engaged), Carly and Johanna (In a dating relationship). It was pretty fun having girl talk about married life, sex, romance, and boys in general. We also made fun of how gross penises are. Yuck.
After that we had sort of a repenting and forgiving session about anything to do with any sort of relationship. At one point, all of the boys got on their knees and asked the girls to forgive them for every time they have taken advantage of girls, treated them like a piece of meat, and disrespected girls in general. It was so powerful. We forgave them. Then all the girls got in a huddle. The boys surrounded us. We closed our eyes, and they did the Huka (sp??). The Huka is a Maori battle cry. It is sacred and only men can do it. It is loud and scary and beautiful. I started to cry, and I was finally able to let go of all of the unforgiveness that I have been holding inside towards all of the boys that have hurt me in the past. I was balling. Oh man. Crazy.
So awesome. I actually feel different. Like something has been lifted off of my heart.
This weekend is our second weekend off. So this afternoon we FINALLY got to go to HOBBITON! Hobbiton is about 10 minutes outside of Matamata on a farm. It is where the hobbit shire in the Lord of the Rings was filmed. It was so amazing. I can't even describe it in words. I took over 500 pictures in 2 hours. That is how awesome it was!
Oh my. I am actually in the Shire!
Man, I'm big.
Marit wishes she had what Elisa and I have.
Here we all are in Party Field.
Jacob Sandwich! Go Fiji One!
After our journey to middle Earth, the guys were hungry, so we went to McDicks. At McDonalds, Jacob and I attempted to have a staring contest with no laughing allowed. After staring at eachother for a while Jacob said, "This isn't going anywhere." So we stopped. It was so funny. But maybe you had to be there...
I was starving when we got back to the base, because unfortunately McDonalds isn't exactly the best place to eat when you can't eat dairy, gluten or eggs. And because at lunch time someone at all of my potatoes, except for two. Rick kindly prepped potatoes with nice spices for me for lunch, and I guess someone thought that they could dish up out of my potato bowl. So, I didn't get much lunch. But amazingly, the lovely kitchen folks had made me some pasta for supper. We got back to base late, but they had saved my meal! Thank you God!
Kyle and Dan and I had an awesome jam sesh in the lecture room. I played the guitar, Dan played some mad bongos and Kyle sang some sweet tunes. Then I sang some songs about the respiratory system and the brain. It was pretty awesome, and pretty nerdy.
Now I am being super annoying and typing my blog during the Gladiator. Ooooops. But I have actually never seen this movie before. It is pretty goary. Lots of head-chopping-off and such things. Intense! Or should I say In-Tents!!!! That's where we will be sleeping tomorrow night! Me and Marit, Rebekah, Kiwi Hannah, Hannah D from Tennessee and Elisa are having a girls beach weekend. We are gonna wear our two piece bathing suits on the beach.... scandalous!!!
