This morning started off just like any other day, except I woke up rested. I got to sleep in until almost 9! I rolled out of bed and into the shower. And then had my usual breaky of porridge with peanut butter and nutella mixed into it with an apple covered with more peanut butter. Glorious. I also had coffee. But it was a sad morning because I used the last of my Tim Hortons coffee grounds yesterday. I am so sad. But more is on the way! Hopefully it will be here soon!
I then went back to the cottage to pack my bag for the weekend! Marit, Elisa, Hannah, Hannah, Rebekah and I are hanging out in Taupo for the weekend. While I was packing I was singing this really obnoxious camp song which goes a little like this:
Ask, Seek (SEEK SEEK), Knock
and the door will be opened for you
Ask, Seek (SEEK SEEK), Knock
and God will be there for you
and God will be there for you
And I was singing pretty loud. Then I reallized that Kat was sleeping in and she was still in bed. Oooops. I am the worst roommate ever!
I am having a bit of a sadness state over not being in Hobbiton anymore. I am especially sad because I don't have a suitable elvish cloak here (it is back in the tickle trunk at camp), and I could not dress up as my elvin alter-ego, Dirt. Or as I like to call her, The Master of the Narr. Narr is fire in the elvish language, and Dirt is an expert at making fire and then cooking on it. Anyways. Dirt would have really enjoyed Hobbiton. But I guess it is OK because I enjoyed it quite a lot. I pictured myself walking on the same land as Orlando Bloom. Ahhhhhhhh <3
Today we drove in our rental mini van to Taupo. We booked a camp-site at a Christian camp on the lake. We got to the campsite at about 1 or 2 ish. The guy just looked at us and laughed. A van of 6 girls planning on tenting for the weekend... Oh and it was raining. HAHAA. So he took us to the camping 'lots'. He brought us to an open field, and motioned that we could pitch our tent wherever we wanted. No one else is camping this weekend, I guess. Bahahaa. And then he proceeded to watch us pitch our tent frantically in the rain. He was laughing really hard. But we did so good. We rented two tents from the base, but I guess Leish wanted us to suffer because she only gave us one tent with a fly. Bahaha. Oh unfortunate events.
Since it was raining out, we drove back into town to check out the shops and such. But we got here at 4, and everything closes at 5. More unfortunateness. The most unfortunate part was that my digestive system was having issues and I majorly needed to get to a bathroom because my pants were in danger of becoming soiled. On the drive in to town, I farted in the van. It was a silent one. But oh was it deadly... Hannah D from Tennessee was like "Ugh, did someone fart?" And I was like "Yup. Sorry." It smelled pretty bad, but it diluted fast. Then I farted again. I discretely opened the window. But it was one of the backseat windows in minivans, you know those ones that open about an inch wide towards the back end of the vehicle. Not the most optimal windows for airing out a fart without anyone noticing. Pretty soon Rebekah was about to die and everyone was moaning about the smell. Bahahhaaaa. I am actually laughing right now remembering the moment. Ahh what a good memory. We eventually got all the windows open and the smell went away after a while.
When we got to town I was about to die. You know those pains that you get when you really have to poop and your whole stomach cramps up and you can't move. All you can do in the moment is put all of your energy into not letting your but hole open up... well I had one of those moments in the book store. Then Hannah D from Tennessee and I went on a mission for a bathroom. There was a public washroom in site! So we went there. But it was a fancy bathroom that you had to pay 50 cents to use. Hannah was so kind and payed for me to take a pooh, because I so conveniently forgot my wallet in the van. Man, did I get my 50 cents worth.
Speaking of poop. I just remembered this from when we were in Raglan. We printed off directions, and found that we had to turn on a road called Te Kapua Road. It sounds like Take a Pooh Ah. Hahaha what a lovely name for a street. I think that if I were to live in New Zealand, I would live on that street.
The sun is out now, so we are optomistic that we will be able to lay on the beach tomorrow! The beach is so beautiful. Lake Taupo is an ancient volcano crater that is filled with water. It is a HUGE lake. And it's so pretty. Fun historical fact: The volcano erupted a REALLY long time ago, even before the Maori people (the indigenous people of New Zealand) got here. But there are actually records of the smoke/smog/volcanic stuff in the air all the way in China from way way way back then. That must have been a massive eruption to have substantial smog get all the way to China!
